Successful ERP Change Management

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Successful Enterprise Resource Planning change management will decide the future of the company. It is not the ERP implementation but how you manage the change occurred because of the implementation is what matters most. The entire business process is going to be change after the implementation of the ERP application. If you cannot able to manage this change, it is very difficult to reach the benchmarks or realize the return on investment.

ERP implementation will change the way people work in the business environment. It actually reduces the onus on the man power and hence resulting in the job cuts and increases the productivity with minimum number of people. With this process, the business owners obviously face resistance from the employees. The core issue here is the managing people.

Normally, employees in any company work according to the key responsibility areas designed by the top management of the company. Once the Enterprise Resource Planning software implemented, the process of the work would be changed and the employees need to work in a transparent environment where in people have to interact with each and every person of the other departments. This is what the primary change occurs due to the ERP implementation. This process obviously makes people work in and around all the functional departments of the company. This needs change in the employee attitude towards the work. Here comes the teamwork into the picture. Employees have to increase the relationships with people who are into other departments and ensure the integrated working process. The key responsibility areas of the all the employees would change as per the demand of the integrated working environment.

The business owners need to employ some coordinators initially to take care of the communication issues. Employees may not adapt to the change immediately. It is a time taking process. The sooner the people adapt to the new working environment, the sooner the company can increase the return on investment and realize the results. The business owners make sure the communication process between the inter departments move effectively. They need to organize some seminars on explaining the objective of the coordination and new working environment. Without any hurry in the process, the top management has to give adequate time to the employees to change the attitude so that they can adapt to the new business environment. Try to consult some of the professionals who can help you in the change management strategies.

The change management is purely concerned to the people management. As technology has been changed in the working environment, it is the responsibility of the business owners to educate the employees on the benefits and objectives on the ERP implementation.

Obviously, it is time taking process but with proper approach and mechanism, it is not very much difficult to educate the employees make them adapt to the new environment. If the business owners take suggestive steps to manage this change, there is no doubt that the results will flourish.
