SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

ERP has moved from ERP I to II. ERP II or 2.0 is future enterprise resource planning software. What is Enterprise 2.0 and how is it linked to enterprise resource planning software? ERP software is very small as compared to Enterprise 2.0, which is also called Enterprise Web 2.0 Technology. Enterprise 2.0 includes the social networking technologies such as Web 2.0, and the networking tools such as social forums and wireless systems can be used inside an organization for communication purposes. The common social networking tools accessible on internet are designed on Web 2.0 Technologies.

ERP vendors are introducing new concepts in enterprise resource planning software, based on the changing market situations. The new software has the features of product differentiation. The latest development in ERP called the Enterprise 2.0, has a low initial price and the total cost of ownership or TCO is also less as compared to the traditional ERP software. The Enterprise 2.0 offers easy installation and implementation facilities, and the time consumed in providing the ERP solution is less as compared to traditional ERP software. It provides increased ROI - Return on investment.

Main features of Enterprise 2.0 are following:

1. It offers easy integration of advance technologies such as wireless system, social networking systems and mobile technology to ERP software.

2. New hardware machines such as iPod and iphone can be easily integrated to Enterprise 2.0 software, which has multiple features to facilitate the customers.

3. The software is designed in modules, where the modification or customization of modules or forms can be provided in less time and in low cost.

4. New software designed on Enterprise 2.0 technologies is less bulky and fast, as compared to previous ERP versions. The hardware requirement to run the new systems has changed in the past few years.

5. Software companies find it easy to integrate the software modules designed on Enterprise 2.0 technologies to their previously installed systems. If a company is satisfied with its old software module and the buyer is not interested in spending on buying a new module - it can retain the previous modules without losing its efficiency on integration to new system.

6. The new software comes with open database feature, where the buyer can select the kind of database needed.

7. An Enterprise 2.0 solution allows easy compatibility and customization.

8. Technologies such as ASP, .NET, SOD and SaaS are getting more and more used to design ERP software, which comes with easy deployment and low implementation cost features.

9. Expense on ERP training and implementation is low in Enterprise 2.0 solutions as compared to traditional ERP software.

10. Maintenance of Enterprise 2.0 solutions is easy and it can be procured at a low cost.

Many companies are providing ERP software designed on new technologies such as AJAX, WCF (Windows Communication Foundation), which incorporates the web features. Some of the most commonly used Web 2.0 applications are RSS feeds, online video, blogs, article submission, social forums, wikis etc.
