What is Feng Shui and How Does it Work?

Feng Shui is a Chinese belief, which combines the laws of earth and heaven to improve the life style of people. Feng Shui in Chinese means wind - water. Feng Shui techniques are used to attract prosperity in one's life. Prosperity has been recognized in many ways such as owning riches in the form of money, love, family, friends, knowledge, fame, spiritual wealth, good health and children.

Prosperity, basically, depends on the beliefs of a person. People have different meaning for prosperity which, is formed through the numerous years of experience. As per spiritual beliefs, prosperity comes to the person who is a giver. If a person wants wealth, he should give it to the needy, to have it more. If somebody wants peace, he should allow others to have peace. If you love, you get love - this is common and widely known belief.

Some of the prosperity symbols in Feng Shui are:

1. Three legged frog: The three legged moon frog is considered a symbol of wealth in Feng Shui. The frog has a coin in its mouth and the figurine of the three legged frog is generally, kept on the entrance door, inside the house having face towards the house. The three legged moon frog is also a symbol of long life.

2. Dragon Turtle: A dragon turtle painted in gold colour is also considered auspicious when it is placed in the south east corner of the house or the office. South East is considered the corner of prosperity in Feng Shui and dragon turtle should face towards the door of the room or the office premise where it is placed.

3. Good Luck Coins: Three coins tied together with a red ribbon are considered very lucky in Feng Shui. Giving the three tied coins to somebody is also considered lucky because in Feng Shui giver and receiver, both are benefitted through this object.



4. Golden Pigs: A pair of Golden Pigs is considered positive for giving prosperity to the household or the business owner. Pigs are considered - a symbol of tolerance and honesty and pigs are also considered good for taking up a new thing. Golden Pigs are very auspicious, if somebody starts a business or buys a new home.

5. Bells: Ringing bells are linked to good news in Feng Shui and small bells hanging outside the house's entrance is considered very auspicious specially if the door of the house faces North West.

6. Fu' Lu' Sou: These are three Gods, who symbolize health, prosperity and long life, respectively.

7. Golden Cat: A golden cat is not only considered to be good for improving the prosperity of the owner but it is also a symbol of protection. The cat represent two looks: one face is smiling and other is frowning. The cats are also considered good to remove debts and worries of the owner of the house.

8. Three Gold Fish: Very commonly known symbol of prosperity are three gold fish in a bowl.
