There are many free blogging platforms like wordpress.com, blogger.com, etc. Alternatively there are many article directories like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, isnare.com, helium.com, etc. where you can submit your work along with your short biography and email address.
You can also join project bidding sites like elance.com, getafreelancer.com, scriptlance.com, etc. These sites allow you to create an online portfolio and apply to projects. The positive aspect of these sites is that you can be a bit more relaxed about being paid.
Devote some time each day to learning the craft of writing and practicing it. This is important if you intend to make freelance writing as your career. Learn how to write keyword optimized articles and then apply for such jobs projects. Apply for at least two or three new freelance writing projects a week. The more projects you apply for the more opportunities will come your way.
You should be ready to accept low paid assignments in the beginning. As you learn and grow you will be offered more substantial pay for your work. Don’t let a rejection slip discourage you. All freelance writers have their writing get rejected at one time or another, this is normal and can be for reasons that have nothing to do with your writing style and everything to do with your piece just not being the right fit at that time.
