SAP B1 ERP software provides SDK component (DI API, DI API Server and UIAPI) for further development and customization by third party ERP vendors. It has a GUI (Graphical User Interface) which offers a 2-tier (client/server) and Windows. In SAP B1, 3-tier architecture is only possible with the help of Citrix server or other web enabled services. It provides other components that allow development of add-ons to the software. For example manufacturing, payroll, etc has been developed as add-ons.
SAP B1 is implemented in many of organization successfully. It has a standard implementation called "Vanilla implementation" (standard/rapid implementation), which takes 1-2 months time for all basic modules. If you are doing customizations in first phase it will take more time- based on your customization needs. In the vanilla implementation organization has to change their some process according to SAP B1 software. If organization size is small and not properly managed then vanilla implementation is better option for them. Before starting the ERP project, vendor must have to do GAP analysis, Process Mapping, SRS (System Requirement Study). It will be helpful to understand the current process of the organization and map with software. This understanding will surely help them in implementing ERP.
