Human Resource Processes with ERP - SAP HR Module

Human resource management (HRM) is associated with managing a company’s workforce effectively. Human Resources (HR) department responsibilities are selecting, recruiting new employees, introducing company and information regarding their job profile, conducting training, certification for employees, conflict management, using effective process to review employee performance and determine salary increments and bonuses, managing salary, communicating changes in salaries, benefits, policies to employees, supporting management plans for changes in the organization. Managing all these things without proper system will be hectic job.

SAP HR module is a good information system, which allows all relevant information for an employee to be retrieved in a matter of seconds. It provides tools for managing an organization’s roles and responsibilities, defining definitions, personal employee information, tasks related to attendance, payroll, travel management, and employee training. It also helps in making company’s management structure, and positions within the organizational structure.

SAP HR modules distinguish between task, job, position, and person. Manager’s desktop tool within SAP HR module provides access to all HR data and transactions in one location. Advance SAP HR features are time management, payroll, travel management, training and development.

Time management feature provides hourly record, salaried record separately. Payroll features are remuneration elements of an employee's pay i.e. basic pay, bonuses, gratuities, overtime, sick pay, and vacation allowances. It also gives statutory and voluntary deductions i.e. taxes (federal, state, local, Social Security, and Medicare), company loans, and benefit contributions.

Travel management features are - travel requisition form may fill with employee or employee's manager. Travel requests usually require management approval at the next level. Once travel request is approved by the management, travel reservations must be made. It also maintains travel data for each employee. It is integrated with payroll module for reimbursement.

Training and Development module, employee development is driven by qualifications and requirements. One of the most important reasons for managing the training and development of employees is succession planning. This plan outlines strategy for replacing key employees when they leave the company.

Additional features are- mobile time management, management of medical leave, domestic partner handling, administration of long-term incentives, personnel cost planning, loan, management and payroll for global employees and management by objectives.
