Small business ERP software is cost effective. Small organization has fewer requirements as compared to large organizations. To keep this in mind some vendor has started to sell ERP for SMEs. Earlier these software were made for large organizations, but nowadays small and medium sized organization can think about it. Number of SME customer is in million, to capture this segment nearly all vendors have launched ERP for SME. Even big player like SAP, Oracle and Microsoft have launched their integrated system for this segment.
Small business software are Navision, Axapta, mySAP, SAP B1, Oracle E-business suite, tally, BaaN, encompass, e-works etc. Below are the some strengths and weaknesses of this software.
Microsoft Navision – Strength: Large user base worldwide, good user interface, large partner base, good brand.
Weakness: Heavy license cost, does not support Linux, implementation by partner- Microsoft does not take responsibility of implementation, customization are costly and not easy.
Microsoft Axapta – Strength: Very elaborate, strong production features, good interface, large partner base, good brand.
Weakness: Expensive software for small business, very few installations, does not support Linux, implementation by partner- Microsoft does not take responsibility of implementation.
SAP (mySAP) – Strength: World leader, good brand, very elaborate, strong production features, good user interface
Weakness: Expensive software, heavy license cost, implementation by partner, customizations are not easy, ask user to adopt new processes
SAP B1 – Strength: Excel type interface, good brand, promise implementation in a month
Weakness: Poor production features, implementation by partner
Tally – Strength: Big brand, promise good interface
Weakness: Failed in earlier attempts of launching ERP, people expect their ERP to be as flexible as their A/c software, implementation by partner
Oracle E-Business suite –Strength: Being pushed by good brand, in database oracle is number one
Weakness: very few installations, their apps is more known but expensive
BaaN/LN – Strength: Good production based software, good brand, now sold and supported by Infor Global
Weakness: the software owned by different companies at different time, complex software for SMEs.
Godrej Encompass – Strength: Cheaper version of BaaN, being pushed by good brand
Weakness: ERP business is not core focus, Godrej sells other integrated software.
Ramco (e-works) – Strength: Good and oldest Indian ERP brand, good interface, successful out side India also.
Weakness: Major revenue from Small industries business, implementation by partner.
